Welcome to Casting Call, where theatre nerds and drag nerds unite to celebrate the magic of queer art through performance!
Casting Call was born from a drag pageant at MyBuddys called Reign Supreme, hosted by Rita Tarot, where performers fight to prove they have the star power to Reign Supreme. The first Reign Supreme Pageant was won by Scruffy D. and their prize was their own show.
Casting Call began as drag artists “auditioning for a role” in famous musicals. Then, Showcases were added, featuring Chicago’s powerful, yet marginalized groups. Next, full drag productions of your favorite musicals from start to finish. And this year, we added Triple Threat! A competition series for Actors, Singers, and Dancers!
